Thanks to Benny Sorentino's Pizza for hosting an awesome night of art and donating funds to Any Given Child Harrisonburg. Harrisonburg High School art students designed the pizza boxes and then they were auctioned off for AGC!! JMU Student artists were also there for a live painting experience for our younger artists!!

In partnership with the Forbes Center for the Performing Arts and Harrisonburg City Fine Arts, Any Given Child Harrisonburg welcomed EVERY 4th grade student in Harrisonburg City Public Schools to a performance and question/answer session with the Dallas Children's Theater. Any Given Child Harrisonburg is excited to partner with Harrisonburg City Schools to be a co presenting sponsor for the annual Tiny Tots Concert!! Over 2100+ PreK-2nd grade students came to experience music, instrument familiarization, and music Standards of Learning in a fun, energetic, and exciting learning environment. Elementary students are able to engage with their favorite characters from movies as well as touch and "play" instruments throughout their time at Harrisonburg High School. On Friday March 18, Stone Spring Elementary 2nd Graders shared their Living Wax Museum with our community, JMU education students, and their peers. 2nd Grade Teachers used techniques from Dr. Rosalind Flynn's Reader's Theater workshops to help students write, edit, and perform their scripts describing and portraying famous Americans.
During the months of January, February, and March, percussionist and educator Robert Jospe and world percussionist Kevin Davis brought their World Beat Workshop to all five Harrisonburg City elementary schools and Skyline Middle School. These whole school experiences provided students with a look at how the 3/2 clave rhythm traveled from Africa to the Caribbean and eventually into New Orleans and became the backbone of American Rock and Roll Music. 3000+ students were able to engage in these experiences thanks to Any Given Child Harrisonburg and a grant from the Virginia Commission for the Arts! Any Given Child Harrisonburg in conjunction with the Forbes Center for the Performing Arts at James Madison University and an Anonymous Fund of the Community Foundation of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County presented the Sonos Handbell Ensemble to EVERY 6th Grade Student at Thomas Harrison and Skyline MIddle Schools on December 10, 2016. In partnership with Harrisonburg City Public Schools Fine Arts and the Virginia Commission for the Arts, Any Given Child Harrisonburg had sculptor artist Kevin Reese build, perform, and teachstudents and teachers from Stone Spring Elementary School to create a HUGE mobile installation in the cafeteria. Students designed, cut, sanded, painted, and learned the physics of how a mobile works!!
