Forbes Center at James Madison University

The Community Collage Concert features a wide variety of exceptional music groups drawn from the Shenandoah Valley community including the Valley Wind Ensemble, a group of more than 60 local area music educators and freelance musicians. Directed by JMU faculty member Stephen Bolstad, VWE features rich musicianship, challenging repertoire and memorable music. An ensemble of students selected from Harrisonburg City Schools return to the lineup in an evening that combines performance, education and dialogue to engage audiences of all ages. Additional performers will be added to the show. 

This concert benefits Any Given Child Shenandoah Valley, a program of the Arts Council of the Valley and a community partnership with the Education and National Partnership offices of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. The Forbes Center is the premier performance partner for Any Given Child Shenandoah Valley.

The Valley Wind Ensemble

The Valley Wind Ensemble is a performing ensemble made up of band directors and other professionals throughout the Shenandoah Valley.  The ensemble is conducted by Dr. Stephen Bolstad, Director of Bands at James Madison University.
