Earlier this month, students from Harrisonburg City Public Schools saw the arts come alive in the Concert Hall at James Madison University. The incredible performance from the acclaimed Honolulu Theatre for Youth weaved a joy-filled family celebration with a re-telling of one of the most beloved tales in Chinese folklore - the origin story of the Chinese Zodiac. Students met Po Po and Kung Kung as they celebrated Chinese New Year by making dumplings and sharing the story of The Great Race with their grandkids, Freddie and Ivy. Featuring traditional Chinese music, Jingju, martial arts, and a whole lot of fun, students learned how each animal earned its place in the Chinese Zodiac. A question and answer session followed the show.
