Makinto

Over the last two weeks, nearly 2,000 Harrisonburg City and Rockingham County middle schoolers experienced a live performance from world-renowned jazz musician Makinto in their schools. The Liberian-German composer, musician, singer, and storyteller played various instruments for students during his program "We Shall Overcome." The interactive and engaging residency took students on a musical and educational journey through the evolution of African American music and history.
