Spencer Pelfrey

Picture
Spencer is an emerging leader in the Lip Sync world. Although unproven on the big stage until now, he is credited with grassroots movements locally, nationally, and internationally.

Locally, Spencer has served his JMU coworkers and alumni by showcasing his talent in the back seat of JMU's "Carpool Karaoke" video for Giving Day 2017. He earned "Most Likely to Have an Aneurysm on Screen" after his over-embellished performance in his 15 seconds of screen time. Spencer is nationally recognized by his higher education peers after what could be considered a "spirited" performance at a professional conference at Dartmouth College in July of 2017. The performance was so "spirited" that fans literally made it rain dollar bills, college Vice Presidents actively applauded through teary eyes, and the DJ cut the music to suggest more "participation" from on-lookers.

After performing during the last night of Karaoke on his honeymoon, Spencer gained international attention while cruising the Mediterranean. Canadiens, Australians, and South Africans alike all congratulated Spencer on a "show-stopping" performance that included an audience call and response, using the mic stand as a prop, and even "dancing" on the floor. Karaoke critics around the world paused to behold what could be considered the most theatrical rendition of 3 Doors Down's Kyrptonite of all time.

As mentioned, Spencer has yet to have a breakthrough performance to become a household name. That will all change with this year's Lip Sync Battle of the Burg.

Why Are the Arts Important?

“The arts are an essential element of education, just like reading, writing, and arithmetic…music, dance, painting, and theater are all keys that unlock profound human understanding and accomplishment.”
–William Bennett, Former US Secretary of Education
